Saturday August 16th, was the 45th Anniversary of Woodstock. Although we tried playing the “No Rain” chant raindrops fell on our picnic (recognition to Brian Sears for the sound system). But nobody seemed to mind. A good number of our neighborhood families showed up with their pot luck dishes, raincoats, furry friends and a party attitude. Thanks to lots of tents and the big shade trees on Ericsson, we managed to stay dry and still have a great meal of hot dogs, hamburgers and s’mores (thank you to our BBQ master – Tom Pastecki), do a few dance numbers, break the piñata and play a few rounds of Corn Hole. In addition, for those that arrived early, we were treated to a Thunderbirds flyover, courtesy of the Rochester Airshow. Thanks to all of our neighbors on Ericsson for lending us their street for the day and to everyone who showed up to help with the setup and stay right through to the end to take everything down in the heaviest downpour.
Another fun weekend on the Avenue and in the neighborhood. The ABC Streets NA booth
was crowded all weekend. The major draw was our fabulous and unique Pint Glasses which completely sold out by mid-afternoon Sunday. If you didn’t get a chance to buy one, we will make up more for sale at the Picnic on 8/16. With the heat and humidity on Saturday, bottled water sold at a quick pace –360 bottles of water were purchased. We also added 7 new members to the Association. Our 50/50 Raffle Winner was John Yunits from Fairport who graciously donated back his winnings to our group. Thanks to all the neighbors and friends who stopped by to make a donation or support our fantastic volunteers in the booth. Looking forward to 2015 !!!
