The ghosts and goblins – and, superheroes, princesses, ninjas, witches and wizards — of the ABC Streets gathered on Sunday, October 26th for an afternoon of parading and merriment. The festivities started at David and Irene Burnette’s house for the Harvard Street Halloween parade. Then everyone moved onto Barb Kraus’s spooktacular graveyard for family photos. All of the heroes and villains then made their way over to the Hasman Haunted House, to warm their bellies on a feast of donuts and warm mulled cider (cold cider was also available for the non-adventurous types). Go HERE for a gallery of photos of the event.
OK, we didn’t have millions attending, but It was a perfect fall afternoon for the ABC neighbors to gather in the Gavin’s front yard and sip beers from all over the U.S. We tasted options from Goose Island – 312 Urban Wheat Ale to Left Hand Brewing – Milk Stout Nitro. The venue was decorated with little known beer factoids, each one getting a hearty chuckle, such as this one from Abraham Lincoln – “I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis.” The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.” The fire pit was a welcome addition as we huddled to chase away the late afternoon breeze. Many thanks to Molly and Laramie for their hospitality. As a reminder for your favorites, attached is the list of beers that were tasted as well as a link to some photos from the event.
