“Color Brighton Green” Bike Week May 12-18

The local environmental advocacy group “Color Brighton Green” has invited Corn Hill and other neighborhoods in our community to join with them in their “Curb your Car Week” initiative, May 12 – 18.  This program encourages the use of cheaper, healthier, and more earth-friendly transportation alternatives.  During one week in spring and one week in fall, participants who would normally use an automobile for daily transportation switch to walking, biking, car pooling, or riding the bus as alternatives.  Last fall, 57 participants reported saving over 6000 miles of automobile travel: more than 250 gallons of gasoline saved, and 2 1/2 tons less CO2 in the atmosphere.  Go green along with your Corn Hill neighbors and curb your car for one week!  Register at http://www.colorbrightongreen.org/site/index.php?page=curb-your-car-week.

Filming for Spiderman 2 will close parts of Main St. – April 30 to May 9

Spider-mania will descend upon downtown Rochester, and specifically Main Street, when a 300-person production crew arrives on April 30 to film “action sequences” for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie.  Filming will require stretches of Main Street to be closed each day during the 10-day span [April 30-May 9]. Portions of the road will be closed daily, between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Side roads will be closed to traffic intermittently. Some areas will also become off-limits to pedestrians.
