I think we will all agree that this winter has been one for the record books. Well at least I think so! I went out this morning and braved the elements for you all so that you can see what our wonderful part of the world looks like on February 15th 2015. Near the end of the walk by face froze briefly to the back of my camera. Photos Here.
OctoBEERfest – Saturday, October 4th – Home of Molly & Laramie Gavin
OK, we didn’t have millions attending, but It was a perfect fall afternoon for the ABC neighbors to gather in the Gavin’s front yard and sip beers from all over the U.S. We tasted options from Goose Island – 312 Urban Wheat Ale to Left Hand Brewing – Milk Stout Nitro. The venue was decorated with little known beer factoids, each one getting a hearty chuckle, such as this one from Abraham Lincoln – “I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis.” The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.” The fire pit was a welcome addition as we huddled to chase away the late afternoon breeze. Many thanks to Molly and Laramie for their hospitality. As a reminder for your favorites, attached is the list of beers that were tasted as well as a link to some photos from the event.
NOTE: There are still some Park Avenue pint glasses available. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested. They’ll make a unique and thoughtful holiday gift !!!
Saturday August 16th, was the 45th Anniversary of Woodstock. Although we tried playing the “No Rain” chant raindrops fell on our picnic (recognition to Brian Sears for the sound system). But nobody seemed to mind. A good number of our neighborhood families showed up with their pot luck dishes, raincoats, furry friends and a party attitude. Thanks to lots of tents and the big shade trees on Ericsson, we managed to stay dry and still have a great meal of hot dogs, hamburgers and s’mores (thank you to our BBQ master – Tom Pastecki), do a few dance numbers, break the piñata and play a few rounds of Corn Hole. In addition, for those that arrived early, we were treated to a Thunderbirds flyover, courtesy of the Rochester Airshow. Thanks to all of our neighbors on Ericsson for lending us their street for the day and to everyone who showed up to help with the setup and stay right through to the end to take everything down in the heaviest downpour.
We had a new order of Park Avenue beer glasses available and they sold briskly. We still have more available for sale, so let us know via our email or Facebook, if you’re interested in purchasing.
