It was cold outside, but the temperature in the Pastecki’s home was warm and cozy. Due, not only to the large amount of chili warming in their crock pots, but to the camaraderie among the 30+ attendees. We had 9 chili submissions plus a number of corn bread offerings and lots of cold drinks to accompany. It’s amazing how many different ways you can make chili and no two tasted alike. Our judges, Elaine Spaull and Becky Simmons had a hard time selecting but came up with our winners. A new trend in chili?? – Several of the entries contained cocoa and/or chocolate. BTW – Amy’s chili can also be made with Buffalo meat, (widely available in her home state of Wyoming), hence the name.
